Hi guys,
Sorry about the disappearing infor but here's the deal.
For personal reasons that I'd rather not go into on the forum, but you cn ask me about when you see me if you really want to know, I dropped the ball on this project.
Ayvah's pretty much jumped to the rescue and picked it up, added his own idea, wills and wants to it and the sum of which is aiming far higher than my endeavours to say the least. Most of you will ahve been contacted by him already.
The thread you'd want to be looking at is this one here: http://oztaku.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?t=2913&highlight=
For myself all I can say is sorry to you all. There's unexpected happenings in your life then there's pretty much having bombs dropped on you half a dozen times. I got the latter and unfortunantly couldn't cope with it, work and life in general.
So i'm sorry I dropped the ball on you guys.
I'm helping Ayvah out where I can and really urge you guys to get behind him.
Regards

I don't see any holes so far. While I'm sure the others won't be so kind, it's looking great to me. _________________ IMPORTANT CONNEX ANNOUNCEMENT: Do not ride on the top of trains. *Nods* Thanks.
Obviously, just to repeat myself, this will require some editing and finalisation. _________________ Yes they bounce, yes you can have a feel.... YES, I HAVE A FACE!!!! |

A serendipitous theme, I will begin finalizing my character designs and plot for my one shot based on this.
Oh, and to be honest, I am not really interested in doing full colour. _________________ PUNCH SKY FOR SUNSHINE HAPPINESS!

I only work in black and white most of the time anyway. I don't really see a need for 200 pages of colour.
XD I'm thinking of one shots now _________________ http://neveresque.deviantart.com

It'd be a pain, but an anthology of 200 coloured pages seem pretty cool.
Just imagine how much we can charge people with it. (On the other hand, there's a chance we could scare people with the price.)
Either way, will work on a one-shot then. _________________ 1999: "Be true to yourself. Believe in yourself. And never, ever, EVER give up! This is your strength!"

This is an expression of interest.
Note: I am an amateur and expect to be treated as such. That is... you'd probably want to be more mindful of my progress or consider cutting me out all together if I'm not up to scratch. I'll try my best though. |

Just like to make an editorial note:
File layers are NOT to be flattened.
We'll do that ourselves while compiling.
I want layers, in case text needs to be shifted or spell checked. _________________ Avi - The cute & fuzzy galactic overlord |

Thanks Avi.
Clyde, awesome, we can work with that.
As for colour vs black and white. I'll let a few more people get back to me on that. I'm comfortable working in both so it doesn't really effect me.
A couple of other things to look at is cover art and title.
I was thinking somethig along the lines of *Insert titles here* presented by OzTaku.
Cover can be bright and colourful or some styling black and white regardless of what the content is in. _________________ Yes they bounce, yes you can have a feel.... YES, I HAVE A FACE!!!! |

I'm interested in this if it's open to anyone, but I'm wondering if I'm able to use my 'randomanga' characters since I always draw one-shots anyway (it'll be a new one-shot, but with same characters and probably similar plot device).
However, I'm just wondering is there a maximum page limit? Most of my current ideas would end up 15-20 pages long. And can we use a 'cover' page? _________________ http://serio555.deviantart.com |

As long as they're not a licensed character created by someone else, or a parody thereof, you can use what you want.
15 + Pages are good....
Cover pahes... uniform lookis imprtant here. Either everyone does one or no one does... leave that bit with me? _________________ Yes they bounce, yes you can have a feel.... YES, I HAVE A FACE!!!! |

I think a cover page in colour and overall manga in black and white would be ideal, but I'm not sure how doable that is. _________________ http://serio555.deviantart.com |

It's not cost wise.
If any of the internal pages are in colour then the entire book will be charged at colour printing prices. The outer cover can be in colour though. _________________ Yes they bounce, yes you can have a feel.... YES, I HAVE A FACE!!!! |

Hi Twist,
Are reworks acceptable? (ie: I'm thinking about a complete reworking of the standalone first part of the story I did for Xuan Xuan unless I have another idea - this would look much better redrawn and in full colour).
Why RBG colour? Won't this make printed colour a bit unpredictable (if brighter)?
Full bleed okay?
Is style strictly manga, or are Western styles also acceptable?
(gulp) 15 pages (that might be beyond my reach, but see next question)!
Will there be any restrictions on using the work elsewhere - can these pages be offered as episodes to commercial magazines even while awaiting publication in their entirety in the annual?
Will anyone crossover OzTAKU characters, albeit in a standalone story?
Colour is a great option. I notice the next issue of Generation is in colour as well.
Cheers,
Ian T. |
